The purpose of this Wiki is to organize the research efforts for computational multidomain biomechanics. Any item related to the project can be uploaded and described for prospective viewing, download and discussion by team members.
Overview
The Main page gives a general description of the footwear project and provides automated links to related subprojects and repository entries. All items are organized in categories
Projects: Smaller projects carried out by individual members as part of the big picture.
Documents
Articles: Manuscripts in progress, or completed and published by the research group.
Abstracts: Abstracts in progress, or completed and published by the research group.
Grants: Grants funded to conduct the project as well as those submitted and in progress.
Literature: Any journal article, book, website, etc. related to the project.
Media
Presentations: Presentations given by team members in meetings, lectures, tours, etc.
Posters: Posters displayed by team members in meetings, labs, etc.
Graphics: Illustrations created and photos taken to support articles, presentations, etc.
Audio: Music, sound for presentations.
Video: Videos for presentations, tours, etc.
Analysis & Simulation
Note that all the items listed below should be in a mature state before uploading to this Wiki. For those under development another wiki (Trac) will be installed, which will support version control (Subversion).
Codes: Matlab, C, Truegrid, etc. files to develop models and analyze data.
Models: Input files for finite element analysis (e.g. Abaqus files).
Data: Experimental data (e.g. plantar pressures), raw simulation output.
Results: Processed experimental data and simulation output that forms basis for publications.
Users
Team members are encouraged to create user profiles. Currently, this Wiki does not allow write access automatically. You need to send an e-mail to <erdemira@ccf.org> with your username for permission to write access.
User profiles can be created at UserPreferences page. When you select a username for the first time, please use your FirstnameLastname for consistency accross the Wiki.
For e-mail notification of all changes insert .* to Subscribe wiki pages box at UserPreferences.
Navigation
This section summarizes basic page navigation tools. For more detail check HelpOnNavigation.
Search Box
Located at top right corner, the search box allows you to find pages that contain the typed keyword in the title or the body of the page.
Navigation Bar
Located at the top left corner, just below the logo and page title, the navigation bar provides quick links for commonly used Wiki pages.
RecentChanges, shows recent modifications to wiki.
Help, displays this page.
CreateEntry, specific to this wiki, allows easy creation of new pages (see below).
Repository, lists links to a variety of useful media.
Projects, provides a list of main projects including a link to all projects.
Actions Toolbar
Just under the navigation bar, the actions toolbar displays functions to operate on the current page.
Edit (Text), edit page using text page editor.
Edit (GUI), edit page using graphical interface.
Info, information about the page including revisions.
Subscribe, get e-mail notification of page changes.
Add Link, add page to favorites.
Attachments, manipulate attachments of the page.
More Actions, other common functions.
Creating Pages
Before creating a page, make sure that similar entries do not exist. The easiest way to create an entry for this wiki is the CreateEntry page:
- Select entry type (e.g. project, article, etc.)
- Type in desired page name into the box associated with the entry type
Submit the page name by clicking on the CreateEntryType button
- Start filling in the page.
The protocol outlined above automatically selects a template that fits the needs of the entry type. There are other ways to create pages, as outlined in HelpOnPageCreation. Make sure to select the template associated with the entry types. Current templates are:
MultidomainProjectTemplate for projects
ArticleTemplate for articles
AbstractTemplate for abstracts
GrantTemplate for grants
LiteratureTemplate for literature items
PresentationTemplate for presentations
PosterTemplate for posters
GraphicsTemplate for illustrations and photos
AudioTemplate for music, sound
VideoTemplate for movies
CodeTemplate for computer code
ModelTemplate for models
DataTemplate for experimental data and raw simulation output
ResultTemplate for processed data and simulation output
While naming pages, try to use a WikiName for consistency and do not exceed five words for brevity.
Editing Pages
Check HelpOnEditing. To experiment go to WikiSandBox.
A note on attachments. Images and other files can be attached to any page. However, regardless the file type, first create a page for it using one of the templates (see above), then briefly describe the contents of the file in that page and attach the file to that page. Different versions of the file can be attached to the same page rather than creating another. Further links can be established to the page describing the file or directly the file through !PageName/filename.ext.
A note on equations. Multidomain Biomechanics site has latex(\LaTeX) support provided as a plugin. More details about the plugin can be found at http://johannes.sipsolutions.net/Projects/new-moinmoin-latex. Information on latex(\LaTeX) can be found at LatexIntroduction.
