Ten Simple Rules of Credible Practice

One of the first tasks of the Committee was to identify best practices to enhance credibility of modeling & simulation in healthcare. This activity started as a Committee discussion, where CPMS Task Teams have been tasked with generating a list of ten key elements or simple rules of credible practice (Committee Perspective). As the Committee discussions finalized, the group agreed on the necessity to reach out to the broader population of stake-holders. In result, the Committee launched a public survey to establish the Community Perspective of ten simple rules for credible practice in modeling & simulation in healthcare.

The Ten Rules were published in the Journal of Translational Medicine in 2020. The process for the development of these rules is detailed below.

Committee Perspective

The Committee Co-Chairs generated a non-prioritized list or rules as a starting point. The CPMS Task Teams individually surveyed, augmented and consolidated the list as needed to narrow in on the ten simple rules that matter most to the community each team represents. Methodological details and the summary of the Committee Perspective can be found in the poster:

Community Perspective

The Committee conducted a public survey to understand community's position on best practices for credibility in modeling & simulation in healthcare. The survey was launched on August 15, 2014 and closed on April 15, 2015.
